In recent years, with the exploitation of ocean and the underwater detection increasing, the research of high resolution profiler will be more and more respected. The profiler can be used for ocean geology detection, archeology research, pipeline orientation, prospecting and so on. The demand for the profiler's frequency, power and effect distance are different in the different work condition for different use.At present, the existing profiler mainly prefers to shallow stratum in the world. wide-band chirp signal is used for transmitting, and the medium bed resolution is only related to the bandwidth of the transmits by the procession of impulse compress for the receiving signal. This LFM technique can preferably resole the conflict between the ability of penetration and recognition. So the high distance resolution can be attained by increasing the bandwidth of sweep signal. But for the procession unit of the profiler, the arithmetic of digital time-lapse sum beamforming and correlation for processing are used. High distance resolution will make the profiler arithmetic have the characteristic as follows: high system frequency, huge calculation and data throughout.Aiming at these characteristics, This thesis introduces the software design and the algorithm accomplishment of the wideband multi-beam profiler. It is designed that the main control broad sends the control commands and take the charge of data transmission, the processing board manages the data from the collecting board, and achieves the parallel arithmetic of beamforming, correlation, procession of impulse compress and filter. During the practice design, the corresponding mission is compartmentalized aiming at the differences between different systems, and the corresponding flow chart is designed. According to the flow chart, the algorithm is designed for each module one by one. At the same time, the code is optimized aiming at the characteristics of two parallel TMS320DM642 chip structure and software calculation. The special optimizing methods and their effects are given in the thesis. The result of experimentations show that the optimized software takes a good effect and the system can work steadily.
