The semi-rigid connection which was between rigid connection and hinge connection had both moment transfer and rotation ability. The existence of the semi-rigid connection had directly influence on the mechanical behaviors of the steel frame under loadings. The semi-rigid connection conception could avoid the large difference between the theory and practice, the insecurity or conservation of structure in the traditional steel frame analysis, which assumed that the behavior of the beam-column connections was either hinged or rigid joints entity. The main tasks of this paper were introduced below.Firstly, we used turn spring to simulat the semi-rigid connection of beam-column in the steel frame. Through theoretical deduction, the stiffness matrix of element with semi-rigid connections was obtained and a new equivalent node-load method for element with semi-rigid connections was presented. According to the characteristics of moment-rotation curve, the proper disperse formula was provided. Then, Based on the FORTRAN program, a finite element simulation code which had accounted nonlinear factors from the semi-rigid connection and material for the steel frame with semi-rigid connections was compiled.Secondly, the static analysis was completed by the finite simulation code and then the correctness of the results was validated with ANSYS. From the result we could acknowledge that the existence of the semi-rigid connection had largely influenced on the X-displacement, moment transfer and so on.Thirdly, the seismic performance of the steel frame with semi-rigid connections was obtained individually by the finite element simulation code and ANSYS, which based on the method of pushover analysis. From the results we could acknowledge that the seismic performance of the steel frame with semi-rigid connections was much better than the rigid connection.Lastly, ANSYS was employed to complete the time history analysis. The results of the time history analysis had cormfirmed the pushover analysis.
