Study On The Landscape Design Of Square In Modern City

With the development of the times, cities are becoming more crowded. People's public contacting space is also being reduced. Urban's squares are important part of people's living environment and the most artistic and open space of cities. Landscape design of squares not only reflects the city's modernization level, but also reflects the cultural connotation and mental outlook of cities. Studying on landscape design of urban's squares provides a theoretical basis for the creation of free harmonious and cordial nature of the urban space, and scientifically guides the building of the urban environment. It will make the construction of city squares in china more rational and healthy.The paper is based on so many reading materials of the domestic and foreign squares. Through the investigation of some squares, it has the present situation analysis and the summary of square landscape design in domestic cities. It points out many problems in the design of the square landscape, such as neglecting the historical and cultural traditions of the city; lucking the characteristic landscape style; the square going for grandiose projects, causing the spacious ,rough, and indifferent landscape; over imitation with outside areas in the landscape design; lucking innovation and so on.From the aspect of the city, the paper has the further discussion on the denotation and connotation of landscape and urban squares. It offers the more rational and clear classification of city squares, and discusses the historical development of landscape design of city squares. It presents that landscape design of city squares along with urban design has three stages:First, classical stage of the landscape design of squares, landscape elements of square are simple, but the functional scale is reasonable; Second, recent stage of the landscape design of squares, it inherits design philosophy of the "Bauhaus" ,and follows the technology aesthetics and to economic principles. Scale of square design increases and it blindly pursues formal luxury style ; Third, modern stage of the landscape design of squares ,with the efforts of idea of sustainable development, people-oriented and ecological design view in the landscape design of squares have emerged and been considered right.In the paper, it profited the advanced design idea from the landscape architecture, architecture, urban planning in order to instruct the design of modern city, such as ecology economy idea, "humanist" idea, and space spirit and so on. It proposed six important principles, which is suitable to city square landscape design the currently in our country: (1) Ecology principle; (2) Integrity principle; (3) Culture principle; (4) Humanism principle; (5) Emotion principle; (6) Time principle. Meanwhile, with cases, it has deep analysis on the way to realization of the principle from several aspects. These principles will comparatively specifically instruct the square construction, and make design methods more scientific and effective.The paper has done innovation exploration to the design technique of modern city's square landscape. It mainly studied the conformity technique of landscape element. Through the conciseness summary and the analysis of the landscape element of modern city square, and under the primarily instruction of the integrity principle, it makes the square landscape unified harmoniously. The paper proposed that the genuine city square landscape is the unified complex in which each landscape element such as plants, water, terrain, building, the sketch, the facility and so on are conformity and has good social efficiency, great economic efficiency, excellent environment benefit, and perfect esthetics value.Finally, The paper takes three constructed successfully modern city squares for examples, which are Chuzhou Square, Victory Square of Hefei, Color Spiral Square of Xuancheng,and has proven the design principle and the design technique proposed in the paper in order to give significant reference for the construction of modern city square.
