Changchun City Square Cultural And Landscape Design Research

With years flow, plaza should be called as one of products of the new era, the cultural symbol of the town and the culture inherent of the city.Changchun is a city with variety of plazas and squares, such as "culture square""people’s square""South Lake square""satellite square""century square""King Yang square", etc. there are more than20plazas like them in Changchun city and all of them are magnificent, grand. However, through careful observation, it’s easy to find that lots of the construction of the city plaza fails to play its basic function as providing the leisure time and space for the population of the city. Instead, they are designed only for the beautification of the city, for the show of an object and to highlight the memorial significance.This thesis is going to elaborate and discuss the necessary of constructing the plaza with culture and the problems existing in the construction of "culture square" from the point of view of city plaza’s difference, diversity, ecology and cultural fusion based on the origins, definitions, development, and classifications of city plaza at home and abroad. Besides, this thesis will apply the theories obtained in the study to the practice according to the city plaza’s landscape design errors on in order to find the problems in actual application, to propose the problem, and to solve the problem. So that the theoretical study findings could be more of applicable.
