Speaking of the building heat-preservation and heat-insulation, in hot summer, the building roof is the spot which accepts the strongest solar radiating heat in all surrounding protection structures of the construction, and it is the key processed spot when we are designing construction heat-insulation, because the quantity of heat entering the inner rooms through the roof is the primary cause which makes temperature and humidity environment and hot comfortableness of the top layer inhabitant bad. In winter, heat consumption of the Hunan area building roof is about 10% of the total housing heat loss. This part of heat loses only through the top layer's roof, so it has very big influence on the top layer inhabitants. Therefore, it is extremely important to study top layer room roof heat-preservation and heat-insulation, which help us adjust and improve the microclimate condition in the building and satisfy people's comfortableness request, and it is also an important measure which saves the environmental equipment consuming energy (such as electricity consumption of air conditioning equipment and so on).This research is based on the foundation of predecessor's research on the traditional roof, undertakes a diagnosis of Hunan area housing roof's present situation, discovers the questions which exists in the extant roof methods, proposes the improvement measures of design, and discusses the significance of energy conservation and ecology of using the energy-conserving roof in Hunan area housing; This research analyzes hot environment of the top layer room and energy consumption of housing having different roofs emphatically, utilizes the DOE-2 software to establish mathematical model and carry on analog computation; It carries on technical and economical comparison and analysis to the different roofs in construction period and entire life cycle; It attempts to seek new roof material and method which suits the Hunan regional climate condition and the current economic condition; Finally, it induces housing roof's design strategy which adapts the Hunan regional climate characteristic.This research explores a new train of thought about energy conservation design, creates the new design pattern, so it may provide certain reference for the massive residential building design and practice, it may help save the housing energy undoubtedly, inevitably it will also have the positive influence to the energy consumption condition of construction in Hunan area, and it has the extremely vital reality significance regarding the development of construction system in Hunan area.
