Study On Design Of The Street Edge Space In Morden City

Along with the accelerated process of urbanization, urban public space is increasingly playing a great social effects, and has been broadly concerned, The quality of public space directly effects on not only daily life of people but also stabilization and development of the city. As the body of the thread city, street is the most public space because the day-to-day conducts of most urban dwellers happen on the street. The certain street space between the edge of roads and the walls of buildings is the right place where people enjoy city life. So the quality of Edge space is the determining factor of the success of urban public space, and to seriously study the use of street edge space is of great realistic significance. However, as the city beautification campaign spread, people are more concerned about the Building Facade, and the emphasis is on the visual appearance. The rapid development of the automotive industry makes these people lose sight of the space for "people's" place; the most important place where people enjoy street life is neglect. Because of ownership, management, Planning and design and other various reasons, this space doesn't go as harmonious as we have expected but resulted in the inconvenience and confusion of use ,and even hidden dangers of security。Based on study of types of streets, this thesis selected some typical streets in Beijing and Baoding as research objects, observed types of acts in edge spaces, combined with domestic experts' study results, the article put these human acts on the verge of tendentious analysis and summed up the elements of the street edge space. In view of some problems of the edge space, the thesis offered several suggestions on the building of charming street space, the final part try to do urban design from the female perspective, which is one of the disadvantaged groups in society, and hope to find a new way of urban public space design.Main thesis is divided into five parts:1). Introduction, the background and significance of this research on the streets of urban public space and domestic space on the research findings, and explained the main contents of this paper.2). Ontology, explained the concept and related concepts of space, analyzed the relationship between human behavior and edge space, reached the idea of that edge of space is the place where behavior and activities often take.3). Part of the main study, combined with current research results and technical investigation, analyzed the types of elements constitutes the edge, and attentions about these elements when design;4). Practice, through investigation and analysis of the typical streets, this part funded some common problems in modern street edge space, and showed some of its own proposals on these issues.5). Innovation, based on human nature design, this part try to do edge design from the perspective of women, one of vulnerable groups, and explore new ideas for the design of urban public space.
