In recent years, along with the speedy development of the national economy, the road traffic freight volume has been rapidly increased. Now the traffic ability of many roads has exceeded the standard state. However, because of the high cost of new project investment, the large number of road widening projects have inevitably been launched. The quality of the projects has relation to the interests of national economy. So a plenty of problems are urgently needed us to solved, which are how to design the construct the project and how to deal with the problem of strength coordination between the old and new subgrade.According to Zhu-Cheng Widen Road Project, we bring forward a new concept of the widen-road-project. We must put the usage of new road firstly and heighten the utilization of the old road on the premise of the all-around analyses of the old and new road's diversified intensity index. Then we can control the engineering cost and give birth to the economy benefit without reaching the intensity parameters in those design manual. It's a innovation in the paper.Firstly, we had gained a mastery of the stratum structure and the soil mechanics characteristic after investigating the old road actual status and doing a lot of in-site experimentations. And we had analyzed the old road actual status to know the utilization of the old road.Secondly, we had carried through a plenty of indoor experimentations to get the diversified intensity parameters which were needed in the strength coordination design.Then, we had constituted the methods of strength coordination for this project on the premise of reaching the new road's design criterion. And we had set a control index of the strength coordination between the old and new subgrade in the project.Finally, we had analyzed the consolidation data of the on-the-spot survey on test road and validated it were a good integer and the unequal settlement was in the range of permissibility. So we had check up validity of the new concept.
