There is a broad prospect for Alternating Current Excitation Generator (ACEG) in improving the stabilities of extra-high voltage power system and in constant frequency generation with variable speed, by using the three-phase alternating current excitation and realizing independent regulation of active power, reactive power and rotate speed. It is the key point for ACEG to play good regulation performance, agility and reliability of operation that using appropriate excitation control strategy and excellent excitation power supply.In this paper, the dual-passage excitation control strategy based on dynamic synchronous reference frame is analyzed and the dual PWM control AC-DC-AC voltage source converter with excellent input and output characteristics is proposed as the excitation power supply for ACEG. The hardware of excitation system for ACEG based on dual PWM converter are designed by using high speed digital signal processor TMS320F2812 and IPM. The softwares of excitation system are complied and debugged with C language. The good performance of the dual-passage excitation control strategy based on dynamic synchronous reference frame is validated through the experiment research. The independent regulation of active power, reactive power and rotate speed can be realized and the ACEG has good dynamic response ability. As the ideal excitation power supply for ACEG, the dual PWM converter has many advantages such as bidirectional power flow, low harmonics input and output currents, excellent dynamic response and adjustable power factor.The results of this paper will be helpful to design the excitation system of ACEG.
