The maintenance of civil aircrafts is not only closely relative to the flight safety, but also directly or indirrectly has an important influence on operation benefit and social status of aircraft customer. To determination the maintenance task type and maintenance interval is so important for the maintenance of civil aircrafts. it's a guidance for the subsequent maintenance work.Currently, when our country's manufacturers of civil aircraft and airline companies determine the maintenance interval, they usually use their experience. It lacks scientific and mensurable method for determining the maintenance interval. This is disadvantageous for civil aircraft's maintenance quality and maintenance costThis paper is the study based on ARJ21 maintenance program item which is done by the RMS center of the Civil Aviation College, NUAA and AVIC I Commercial Aircraft Co., Ltd. The paper discusses the maintenance task type and maintenance interval, and emphasizes the study on determining the maintenance interval with maintenance models, so solves the question about determining civil aircraft's maintenance interval better.The paper first analyzes the method of determining the maintenance task type with MSG-3 analysis methods, which is the precondition of establishing maintenance models. Then , based on the reliability theory, analyzes the civil aircraft's failure rules and the method of collecting and dealing with the reliability data. After that through massive historical data of failure records, estimates the function of failure distribution, and analyzes the whole process of collecting plant failure, selecting distribution model, estimating pa-rameters and testing goodness of fit. Finally, based on the rule of failure distribution and civil aircraft's maintenance task type, establishes maintenance models for the correspond-ing maintenance task type and calculates the maintenance interval.
