Aircraft assembly fixtures are important assembly tools in manufacturing of aircraft. Raising efficiency and quality makes important sense to cut short manufacturing cycle. There are some problems in traditional design such as short of reuse, nonstandard modeling, low efficiency and so on. According to the practical needs of an aircraft manufacturing corporation, a technology of computer aided conceptual design is studied and is used in design of aircraft assembly fixtures. A system about computer aided conceptual design of aircraft assembly fixtures is developed. The main job of this thesis are as followed:(1) On the base of researching on technology of computer aided conceptual design and aircraft assembly fixtures design, the technology about computer aided conceptual design is used in aircraft assembly fixtures design. It builds conceptual design model of aircraft assembly fixtures rapidly through reasoning and supports technology for efficient division and coordination in design.(2) A modeling technology about computer aided conceptual design of aircraft assembly fixtures is put forward. A computer aided conceptual design model is built. It is expatiated on geometry model, assembly model and knowledge model. That supports data service for building and management of database.(3) A CBR technology about computer aided conceptual design of aircraft assembly fixtures is studied. A case database of assembly fixtures is built. It builds, restores, searches and loads conceptual design model of aircraft assembly fixtures, so the level of intelligence in designing aircraft assembly fixtures is enhanced.(4) On the base of studying above, a system about computer aided conceptual design of aircraft assembly fixtures is developed on CATIA, including four modules which are CBR, case maintenance, feature and its attribute maintenance and joint locator coding. This system is used in designing aircraft assembly fixtures of an aircraft manufacturing corporation, which standardizes designing, enhances efficiency and quality.
