Experimental method was used to research the phenomenon of impact andcompression of propellant beds and grain fracture in the initial stages of the firing ofthe gun, it is of vital important to analyze the reason of accident of breech blow whichhappened in recent years frequently and to find the way to repress the accident ofbreech blow to happen.According to the photos about the movement of propellant beds obtained in thesystem of pulse X-ray radiography which can trigger many times continually, take theanalog photo to digital image in the paper, then the image was processed and analyzedby the modern digital image processing .Image preprocessing not only improve thedefinition and increase the contrast, but also lay a good foundation for the nextprocessing. Next the density of propellant beds along the chamber,the axial velocityof trace particle along the chamber and the velocity of projectile are obtained on manydifferent condition of ignition, so it can realize the qualitative analyses of movementof propellant beds.In order to research the character of grain fracture caused by the impact andcompression of propellant beds further .According to the experimental result ofdynamic simulation experiment of impact and compression of propellant beds ,to doqualitative analysis. Then there is a theoretical analysis for the on interior ballisticperformance of 57mm high-low gun used in the experiment, and the result of thetheoretical mathematic and experiment are to be in agreement, and it proved therational and feasibility of using the instrument.
