Visualization is an important aspect of computer application in civil engineering. Weoften deal with a lot of data in engineering, by visualization can achieve mutual operationbetween data and graphics, display the compute results more directly, so that we can workmore accurately and effectively. This article does research on visualization of structures.Such as cracks, slope stability and the display of arch dam's stress.Crack is an inevitable element in the concrete structure during its use period, theconcrete pressure pipe is widely used, but the crack of it is special which is hard tocompute with ordinary crack formula, so it increases the difficulty in simulation. Thisarticle bases on current research results, consults the fractal theory which used to describethe irregular shape, tries to apply the L system of the fractal theory in describing thecrack's shape. By gathering data and computing shows the crack's fractal property, so thatproves the fractal method's feasibility. So make program according to the self-repeatedproperty of fractal theory, simulate the crack's shape, mapping the crack to 3D pipe bycoordinates transform. This method can draw the crack's shape veritably by comparing tothe experiment pictures.Fortran is a powerful compute language, it is widely used in engineering computesince it born, many Fortran compute program has been developed. But it only canexchange data by reading and writing text file, so that bring more mistakes and low workefficiency, and the result can't been seen in graphics. This article tries the VC++ for theframe tool, contains a slope stability program in Fortran, uses combine programming tomake each own advantages. Drawing the structure's general situation and the computeresults more directly compare to the text.The finite software such as Ansys is powerful in computing, but it usually can't meetthe pursuer's particular demands in graph display. Such as the result display of the archdam in this article, the software can't display the result stress by layer or in requireddirection, but in research it need to do, so this article try to achieve these functions byvisualization method, provide a program that draw the result graphics. The program candisplay the arch dam, manage the irregular element, compute the stress along the damplane, draw the nephograms of stress, and display the dam by layer and the dam's reality. It can translate, scale and rotate the graphics, so it is easily to see the stress distribution. It ismore distinct to observe the stress distribution by layer.
