Base on the existing box wagons of our railway, researching the universal box wagon of loading 70 tons which dead weight is invariability, loading increase from 60 tons to 70 tons, velocity enhance form 80 km/h to 120 km/h, railway development is satisfied, is an important task, according to using the new materials, new processes, new technic, new design methods and experiment measure finish the optimum structure.Firstly, the paper illuminates the state-of-the-art of our railway box wagons from establishment of the country to at the beginning of this century, introduces the parameters and the structure of the primary box wagons. Along with the new materials are developing and the fittings technic of vehicle is advancing, the box wagon innovation is imperative under the situation.Secondly, according to the wagon's design parameters and structure, research and analysis the universal box wagon , optimum structure ,exploitation cold-rolled forming section, the paper confirms the box wagon design project.Wagon design's development has enhanced the vehicle applying reliability from satisfying the strength standard to prediction of fatigue life. The paper discussed that the fatigue failure is one of the inactivation and the purpose of the fatigue design. According to the carbody static strength calculation, vehicle dynamics analysis, the paper using the system of the wagon prediction of fatigue life, finite element analysis technic and AAR standard's load spectrums obtains the dynamic stress of the time history.Finally, the paper introduces the carbody static strength test , the method of vehicle dynamics test, the procedure of test and test result. Along with the research of this box wagon, it makes progress about our box wagon.
