The Research On The Design Based On Mixed-Use Idea

In the late 20th century, along with the globalization of economy, city's functionhas been changed dramatically, and the industrial structure has been adjusted togetherwith the city structure. Modern city planning theory of "divided by function" hasshown more and more issues, therefore, theory of "function combination" which canbring the city both varieties and dynamics has been popularized an effective result.Since 2000, with the fast development of single function residential area andcommercial area, some mixed-use area has been developed also and become aninteresting topic.In this thesis, we try to dig into the theory of "function combination" andfocus on the community which combines office, residential building and commercialareas, by analyzing and comparing the key functions.There are five chapters in the thesis. The first chapter focused on thebackground and the reasons why I picked this topic, defined the correspondingconcepts. The second chapter analyzed the history of mixed-use community basedon other contries' successful experience, and showed some examples of thecommunity in the early stage. The third and forth chapter is the main chapter in thewhole thesis. They focused on the research of three representative functioncombination community which are "Hi-Shanghai", "Block-Life", "Knowledge andInnovation Community". By collecting data, field investigation, we compare thecharacteristic of each area. We drew the conclusion in the last chapter.
