Welded steel tubular structure is widely used in the project on recent years, the number of the bars of the joints is increasing and the behavior is more and more complicated, so it is necessary to reinforce the tubular joints. The arrangement of the internal stiffeners can enhance both strength and stiffness of the joint and keep the appearance in the meanwhile. This dissertation focused on the joint strength of RHS and the different stiffeners' impact on the joint strength as two main targets. Based on the reviewing of state-of-the-art of tubular joints, extensive researches were carried out on the subjects by theoretical analyses and experiments.Firstly, base on the achievements of other experts, experimental investigation on static behavior of KK multi-planar inner-column steel joint of National Stadium was conducted.Secondly, non-linear finite element analysis was also been done. By comparing the experimental data with the results of the analysis, it was shown that the joint strength, the failure mechanism, the stress and strain were very close to each other. In addition, a systemic parametric analysis which consists of T, Y, K, KK RHS steel joints with internal stiffeners had been conducted. Investigation on the influence of the parameters including the position, the number, the thickness, the size of the hole of the internal stiffener and the non-dimension parameters on the joint's strength had been adopted. Some of the rules were summarized in order to give the useful suggestion in the future design work.In the finality, the conclusions, the design suggestion and the problems requiring further studies were discussed.
