Increasingly environment problem and energy problem urge the auto industry to do somemeasure to research the exhaust performance of vehicle. Though the electric vehicle is onebest solution to environment problem, the lower energy storage ratio of the battery and somefactors about the life and the price make it lose practicability. Hybrid Electric Vehicle (HEV)is a good compromising solution to fuel economic and exhaust of the vehicle, and isbecoming the strategy point of auto industry in 21 century.As one of the most important parts ofthe HEV energy source, the power battery takes agreat part. In view of this, this paper mainly analyzes the capability of the battery which isusually used in the HEV. High power nickel menial hydride battery has good foreground inHEV and electric tools. Characteristic of charge and discharge in different conditions is keytechnical to improve high power nickel mental hydride battery.Charging and dischargng model of Ni/MH battery to be used for hybrid poweredelectrical motor vehicleis proposed and an empirical formular of main model parameter issumarized from test result in accordence with the re-quirement of hybrid powered electricalmotor vehicle that there should be higher specilic power as well as charging and dischargingefficiency for the battery used on it.The optimum working zoom of the lead-acid battery onthe hybrid poweredelectrical motor vehicle is recommended and verified.A mathematicalmodel of Ni/MH battery charging and discharging characteristics for electrical vehicle hasbeen established by means of constant charging and discharging test,collecting test data andsimulation equation.Satisfactory result has been obtained from verifying the newmodel,therefore a reliable ground is provided for choicing the hybrid powered driving systemparameter.
