Revelation On The Research Of Traditional Settlements External Space

The essay is about the external spaces taste and its designing methods. The objects of this essay are traditional settlements along Changjiang River. This essay analyses and reviews traditional settlements in Suzhou, Huizhou, Sichuan through field survey, information analysing and theory research. Aesthetic system in acknowledging settlements is found: settlement visual esthetics theory, settlement environment esthetics theory and cultural symbol theory. Each designing method of external space, which acknowledging system is relied on, is analyzed and concluded. Last, horizontal system and longitudinal system are organized and systematical designing method of settlement's external space is formed.The essay makes research on traditional settlements external space form through the first hand information from the spacial experiences and makes conclusion on the designing method of constructing space. On one hand, it exploits our visual field and gives us revelation in the designing practice; one the other hand, it explores internal ethnic spirit in the traditional culture and shows the spirit again to the present world through modern method to arouse people's aesthetic consciousness that lies at the bottom of people's heart. It is not only the direction to promote national culture, but also the final aim of this essay.
