Along with the rapid development of I.T. and medical imaging technology, modern medical which based on image becomes more and more digital. The storageand broadcasting of medical video, is widely applying on medical treatment,studenttraining,long-distance consultation and managing of medical dissension. In the field of medical video digitally handling today, in our country, we oftenuse the solution based on PC. It is simple in technique, but the question is it is too big, hard to move and hard to disinfection, so it can not use in the operating room. Recentyears, some big company such as SONY brings out a integrative system of medicalvideo broadcasting system. This integrative system is more reasonable, but it can notwidely use in normal hospitals, because it is too expensive and the compatibility isnot so good.In allusion to these questions, Guangzhou General Hospital of PLA GuangzhouMilitary Area Command, which I am working in, cooperate with Southern MedicalUniversity, research for a new medical video broadcasting system base on IP and LSI.This research is basing on our experience in many years of working in hospital, andwe have considered the requirement of clinic doctor, the environment of operatingroom, and the communication of computer network in the hospital. This paper introduces the background knowledge of this item, and the progressin-country and overseas first. Brief introduce embedded system and MPEG4 in thesecond part. The main content is software and hardware designing of this system, especially three key technique in embedded Linux: The Establishing ofcross-compilation environment; adding OSD by equipment drivers; and how toresolve the net delay of MPEG4 video stream. The main work is finish using embedded Linux in this paper.
