With the development of communication, computer, multimedia technology andnetwork technology, video monitor system implementation based on embedded technologyhas been paid more and more attention. Its advantages in performance: this system is aprocessor and the software bundled tightly, the single-minded functional, the design ofdedicated hardware devices, so the performance is more stable, and easy installation,management and maintenance. It is very important to study the remote video monitoringsystem based on embedded technology, it can be widely used in many fields, such asresidential security monitoring, base station monitoring of communication department, firemonitoring of forestry department, and the city traffic flow monitoring etc.The purpose of this study is to use embedded system to realize an easy to build, easyto configure, good versatility, and can be used for real-time monitoring of remotemonitoring system, can let the client through the browser interface. The study is the designand implementation of remote video surveillance system based on a GT2440developmentboard, using ARM9kernel hardware and embedded linux operating system, the core chipis the company of Samsung’s S3C2440. The whole system uses USB camera connected tothe development board USB_HOST interface to collect the original video image, thecollected data through JPEG compression coding, then transmitted via Ethernet, set to themonitoring terminal on PC. Set up the development board IP addresses by the router toautomatically assign, transplant the embedded Web server on the development board, sothe client can at any time in any internet-enabled PC by the ordinary Web browser, enterthe IP address of the development board, and open the monitoring interface in real timevideo monitoring. The transplantation of the latest release Linux2.6.38kernel of operatingsystem, universal camera driving gspca, boa embedded web server, servfox and MJPG-the streamer application video streaming server, you can drive most of the common USBcamera on the market, and realizes the remote video monitor, capture images and zoom inon video, the adjustment of the contrast, brightness, saturation, and other functions,through the VLC save captured image, record video, so that the end user can view thereplay to specify the directory. The system adopts the combination of embeddedtechnology and network technology, the video collection and processing and networktransmission function integrated into a small size equipment, installation and use is veryconvenient, and can be directly connected to Ethernet by ordinary cables, achieve thepurpose of plug that look, to eliminate the complex wiring and cable connections, controldevelopment board can use the Telnet, remote login, file transfer can use FTP server, sothe development board to add a new application or upgrade extremely is all convenient.
