As the development of economy, requirement for energy sources is increasing quickly, the management of energy, especially electricity, becomes very important. Usually, the existing management schemes of electricity on-site focus on the collection and analysis of electricity without strict protective measures, and the security level is rather lower. In this case, parameter or data may be tampered artificially, or even the terminal and the meter itself may be artificially altered or destroyed. Therefore, it is necessary to improve the protective measures for management of electricity on-site urgently.This paper provides a solution for video monitoring system of electricity on-site based on embedded Linux. The system takes embedded Linux and embedded microprocessor AT91SAM9260as the core platform, which transfers the video information captured by USB camera to the monitoring master station using the existing collection system of electricity on-site.First, the concept of embedded electricity on-site video monitoring is introduced, then the system framework, overall design, design requirements, design selection are researched, and then researches on how to replant Bootloader, embedded Linux kernel and embedded file system to AT91SAM9260as well as the development of USB camera device under Linux operating system are described. Finally, it puts forward the realization of the video monitoring terminal and the master station for electricity on-site.
