Along with the increasing development of social economy and urbanization,the urban traffic problem has been put outstanding. Urban arterial road is themain undertaker of the urban transportation. Therefore, the study on the trafficorganization and optimization should be the major course in solving and improvingthe urban traffic problem.The dissertation catches the urban arterial road as studying object, makessome researches on the urban main road traffic organization and optimization fromtwo aspects: traffic channelization and traffic signal coordinated control.Firstly, the paper makes a deeply analyses on the traffic organization in mainroad segment, including the linking section of intersection and road segment,the roadway, passing-street for pedestrian, public transportation and road speed.Then, the optimized route guidance procedure for segment traffic is offered.As the node of city road net, intersection would be a bottleneck if its trafficflow not be put in order. Analyzing the traffic characteristics of intersectionespecially the channelization of signalized intersection, the thesis gives thecontrol idea that collision can be decreased and the capability and security canbe improved by combining space with time at intersections. The design ofmultiphase channelization control based on the Hongqi street-Honghuan roadintersection in Ganzhou city is delivered in this thesis; also the feasibilityof signalized control in Nanmen square which links the east and west section ofHongqi street be studied.The study on signal coordinated control is the main contents in the researchon urban traffic organization optimization as well as in this dissertation. Byresearching and analyzing the traffic actualities of the east section of HongqiStreet in Ganzhou city, combining alternative mold with synchronized mold, thepaper realizes the widest green wave. Then the time-space method and mathematics analysis method be evaluated and improved.Traffic system has the characteristics of complex, nonlinear, stochastic,time-variant. It is difficult for traditional control theory, based on theconstruction of accurate mathematic model to get more satisfactory answer.Therefore, the intelligent control theory, not based on accurate mathematicmodels, which have the characteristics of self-learning, self-adapt, and itsexcellent ability for nonlinear approach, be introduced. As the mainstream ofintelligent control theory, fuzzy control and artificial neural network, havetheir own characters and respective defectiveness. It can be validated thatcombining both, making it repair shortcoming with each other should improve theprecision of control. The ideal of applying expert system to traffic signalcontrol proposed in this thesis break undoubtedly a new path for urban trafficsignal control strategy.In the end, the dissertation summarizes the findings and achievements, andputs forward the issues, urban traffic organization and optimization, for furtherresearch direction.
