The lateral impact is common dynamics action in project. It not only affects the building appearance, but also damages the interior structure. However the steel tube-confined concrete (STCC) has more superiority in the impact resistance. So studying mechanics performance of the STCC on the lateral impact under the dynamics load is very necessary. Meanwhile, we summarize relevantly regularity from the theory, which has definite guiding significance for reality project.Periphery STCC is the steel tube, which is poured concrete. The steel tube and concrete which fully bonded make well the plasticity and toughness. This paper selected the STCC with round section as the research object, which adopt the restraint type as cantilever,simply supported and fixed-simple. The STCC, which impact position is end or in the middle, is impacted under different energy by drop stamp testing method. This paper preliminarily studies and explores mechanics performance of the STCC, and records original results including the time-history curves of impact loads, accelerations, stress, strain and reality displacement, which supply powerful datum for research and analysis.Based on the above experimental investigation, specimens have been analyzed further supplementary and a numerical model has been established using the large-scale finite element software ANSYS/LS-DYNA by referring to material parameters in the experiment. The simulation value (impact force and displacement curves are considered mainly) by running this numerical model is basically the same with value found in the test, this shows that the numerical model is practicable. After that the numerical model will be expanded more directions.This paper combines plastic hinge moving theory, structure destruction theory of quiet plasticity and plasticity dynamics assaults theory's simplifying analysis method about the dynamic respond of the beam to analysis the plastic hinge of the cantilever and simply supported specimens during the course of impact, and calculates the value of the dynamic plastic limit bending moment undertaken by the plastic hinge formed; and verify the energy constant when the fixed-simple specimens forms the plastic hinge under the different impact positions on the basis of it, infers relation from the three kinds restraint type through the degree of the energy; and then researches each other relation of dynamic and static plastic limit bending moment, at last analyzes the factor and reasons of the dynamic plastic limit bending moment.In order to summarize the mechanics performance laws of the STCC, this paper changes the different impact position,rate of steel,impact energy,concrete intensity,contact area and ratio of long and diameter and so on to imitate a series of the lateral impact to the STCC, and get the corresponding imitation datum to inductive and compare vertically and horizontally, thereby obtains corresponding regularity to provide reference basis for relevance structure design.
