In order to develop the economy and the diversity of demand for the talent and promote the combination of science and technology, education and economy, China set up the Master's Degree of Engineering(ME) in 1997, which is a type of degree comparable to the Master's Degree of Science(MS). ME is relative to the competency in the field of engineering on the same level but particularly emphatic on the engineering implementation. Since its foundation the education of ME in China has achieved great success, which enriches the cultivation mode of postgraduate and type of degree, boasts the meaning of milestone in both theory and practice in the education of postgraduate. But with the continuing expansion of recruitment scale of ME, there are some unreasonable factors in the curriculum and teaching, which block the improvement of the quality of ME. Therefore, it is necessary to understand the particularity of the cultivation of ME from the point of curriculum and teaching, to transform the concept of education so as to cultivate distinguished ME with high quality.During the cultivating process of ME, it is the curriculum and teaching that actually realize the value and meaning of setting up the ME. Therefore, trying to find out the curriculum and teaching adaptive to the features and rules of postgraduate of ME is the basis of assuring the quality of ME. This paper generally introduces the origin, development and current situation of ME, focuses on the research of the key parts, namely ,curriculum and teaching, analyzes the current situation with the research method of combination of theory and practice so as to find out the problems and causes and put forward the solution and advices.This paper has analyzed the main questions and their causes concerning the curriculum and teaching in the process of cultivating ME, that is, imitating the project of cultivating postgraduate, not embodying the feature of ME, unreasonable curriculum and teaching method and so on. All these questions cause the contradiction between the study and the work.Finally, aiming at the questions in the practice, the paper advanced the framework of reform and suggestions on the curriculum, teaching style, staff, teaching organization and administration.
