The research on in-cylinder combustion process of internal combustion engine has become a hot spot today, it shows a strong advantage in the forecast of the internal combustion engine performance especially in numerical emulation integration of simulation calculation. At the same time, visualization as an emerging technology has made rapid development in the handing of mass data, it has become a powerful tool about discovery and analysis of various phenomena, insight the nature of things during the scientific calculation.In order to make up the shortage for the test methods and the existing limitation of visualization software in the professional application to do visualization research on in-cylinder flow of diesel engine, this article bases on the combustion theory, makes visualization in scientific computing be the guiding ideology, creates MFC application framework under the Visual C++ 6.0 platform to achieve the scheduling and sharing of resource between numerical simulation system and native system, then uses the OpenGL graphics development tools for visual programming, finally can obtain an in-cylinder flow field visualization software which adapts to professional demand. The GUI follows the principle of "users first" and adopt user-oriented menu-designed method, it integrates all the function in the visualization system integration, namely in the form of a menu list, to achieve the real-time display and interactive control of graphics by delivery parameters through the news response, we can get a variety of graphics about flow field in cylinder. In addition, users can set windows background and realize translation, rotation, zooming, preservation, dynamic display, and other functions of images according to their needs. The entire system is simple to operate, easy to use, and it can display the visualization images rapidly, comprehensively, intuitively from the multi-angle, multi-time and multi-level.Practice shows that the in-cylinder flow visualization system can save a lot of researchfunds, manpower and resources, effectively shorten the research periodic, reduce thenecessary labor time and improve work efficiency. It is the flexible use of the thinking ofvisualization in scientific computing in the field of internal combustion engine after-treatment,the design method has heuristic and reference effect on the like software development.
