As the second phase of YangShan Port is put into operation, the Container transportation volume will continue to increase. This will aggravate the conflict between the heavy transportation tasks and the incomplete transportation system. In order to avoid harmful effect which container transportation heavily dependent on East Sea Bridge brings to the normal operation of YangShan Port, developing the railway-sea container transportation will be the only way.On the basis of the survey of the railway container transportation both in China and other countries, this dissertation pointed out the following obstacles which hamper the domestic railway container transportation: quick development of road container transportation, the problems of system and idea, the layout of container railway station, the poor condition of the facilities, specialization and informatization which could not satisfy the demand of multi-modalism and modern logistics, inefficient railway capacity and price policy of container transportation.After the analysis of the national economy condition of YangShan Port hinterland, this dissertation used the multi-factor dynamic correlated coefficient forecast method to forecast the container volume of YangShan Port. By means of the Logit model, this dissertation forecasted the railway-sea container transportation volume and pointed out that the railway-sea container transportation volume through the Luchao station would increase tremendously and reach to 1.127 million TEU in 2015 as the second phase of YangShan Port put into operation.On the basis of above analysis, this dissertation also designed the container transportation organization scheme, operation process and facility layout in Luchao station.In the end of the dissertation, some suggestions to improve the railway-sea container transportation of YangShan Port such as setting up coordination department, increasing scientific innovation, freight rate reduction, the promotion of the railway infrastructure, resolving the problem of the separation between port and station, setting up the agency in the inland area and increasing the marketing input had been proposed.It was found from the research of this dissertation that optimization of the container transportation structure and developing railway-sea container transportation would be the effective ways to maintain the excellent operation of YangShan Port.
