As we all know, Electric power quality is the direct driving power for the development of our national economy. Nowadays, people have paid more and more attention to the reliability of electrical power system and the quality of Electric Power. It is of great practical significance to improve the Electric Power quality by monitoring and analysis. Meanwhile, with the rapid development of electronic technology and information, the application of Programmable Logical Instruments is becoming more and more widespread. And the Programmable System on Chips has become the hotspot in the area of electronic design. This paper conducts the research and development to the Monitoring Instruments of Electric Power quality by using SOPC technology.Nios II is a kind of CPU that is specially designed for SOPC by the company of Altera, it provides the designers of Embedded System in the form of IP Core. Its characteristic of reconfiguration brings more flexibility to the designers of Embedded System, and provides a new approach to the design of Embedded System.Firstly, the paper points out the new solving scheme of Electric Power quality monitoring based on SOPC by analyzing the monitoring methods and implement platforms of Electric Power quality both at home and abroad. These monitoring methods and implement platforms have accomplished the measurement of Three Phase Voltage, Current, Power, Active Power, Reactive Power, Power Factor, Frequency, parameters of Harmonic and so on, and then this paper analyzes the concept of each monitoring index. Secondly, it introduces the development environment of SOPC, hardware module system, places the emphasis on the researching and designing of filter circuit, phase locked frequency multiplication circuit, A/D sample module, frequency module, man-machine interaction—keyboard display module and a new reliable signal conditioning circuit. Finally, this paper analyzes the system's data processing methods, places the emphasis on the FFT Algorithm and realization methods.The monitoring system of Electric power quality, which is based on SOPC Technology, has the advantages of highly integration, short developing period, low design cost, reconfiguration and so on. It has effectively improved this system's flexibility and expansibility and is of vital importance to the development of Electric power Quality Monitoring Instrument.
