According to the data provided by Chongqing energy saving office, there are 1000 million square meters new buildings in Chongqing every year, and 200 million square meters glass(about 20% in total building area) among them are needed to be used as outside structure, and this part accounts for 50% in total energy consumption. To reduce the energy dissipation caused by glass is an effective way for construction energy saving.Because of the better thermal performance and energy efficiency of Low-E glass, it has been used wider gradually. But different kinds of Low-E glass have different thermal performance, how to use Low-E glass correctly indifferent cities and different directions becomes an important problem to be solved in glass energy-saving. Firstly, on the basis of heat transfer theories, we analyzed the main influential factors which effected indoor heat though the research of glass heat transfer models. And it also clarifies the main energy saving principles of Low-E glass. Secondly, take Chongqing as an example, this paper analyzed the energy saving and economic benefit of Low-E glass and common hollow glass by static energy consumption analysis mode. Then, choose DOE-2IN as a tool, this paper discussed energy consumption features beween public and residential construction; it analyzed the influences of different directions on building energy consumption. Based on this discussion, it compared the energy saving effect beween different kinds of and other glass, and it proposed suitable forms and compositions of Low-E glass for Chongqing. The discussions have guiding values to the building design.Meanwhile, we tested and analyzed the outside and inside tempreture, indoor and outdoor solar radiation of Low-E glass in an public constucion in Chongqing. Compared with common glass, the test result indicate: Low-E glass can effectively reduce tempreture, it exhibits satisfactory performance in energy saving.
