Residential Building’s energy consumption takes a significant proportion in the national energy consumption. Reducing the energy consumption of building by improving the energy performance plays an important role in solving the problem of energy shortage. Based on the simulation software PROMODUL, analysis on building’s energy consumption and optimization research have the advantages of flexibility, fast, economy, and reliability. The research contains building up the simulation model, calculating the energy consumption, analyzing the root of heat loss and proposing the optimization solution. The following aspects are to be carried out:Firstly, the theoretical basis.is established. Analyzing the theory of heat transfer and the energy efficiency of building is the basic of the optimization study.Secondly, based on the simulation software PROMODUL, simulation study is accomplished. Build up a simulation model for a practical engineering project on energy audit, and then calculate the initial consumption of the building. Analyze the performance of the actual state and find out the root of heat loss. Research find out that "poor insulation property of envelope" and "considerable heat loss due to the natural ventilation" are two major problems.In addition, the existing methods for energy saving is analyzed according to those two problems, from respects of thermal performance, feasibility of reconstruction, and financial respectively. Then six kinds of solution for the energy-saving are proposed.Finally, the final consumption of each method is calculated based on the PROMODUL software. Research results show that:The five renovation methods on envelop can save52.3kWh/m2of primary energy per year, by reducing19.6%of the total consumption; Respectively17.6kWh/m2and6.6%for the four solutions on equipment; Insulation on envelope and recuperation of waste heat are the major technologies for energy saving in the sector of residential building; The external thermal insulation technology is better than the internal one in terms of energy saving, they are the main direction of the development of residential building’s energy saving.
