At present, CAD/CAE/CAM technologies for automotive steering system optimization design were widely used in foreign automotive industries, which greatly reduce the periods of the product development and manufacturing, and improve the product quality, reduce the cost of production. In contrast, China's automotive industries still have a big gap, the ability of competition in international is also weak, in light of the domestic auto parts industry as well as the international auto parts industry development, and combining with China's actual situation, pro-measures should be taken to enhance China's auto parts industry's competitiveness. The production process of the knuckle in my company is as the research object, the main research contents are as follows:First, based on the ANSYS software, the basic functions and the basic modeling methods were described in details. In light of the concrete structures of the knuckle, the specific methods and steps to create finite element model of the knuckle were analyzed in details.Second, according to the force condition of car moving, force conditions of the knuckle in three dangerous situations were studied in details, and the formulas of force and torque were given, respectively. Accordingly, the parts of the knuckle which are easily damaged were identified, and also the reasons were discussed. On this basis, the FEM calculation was used to calculate the strength of the Knuckle structure in the three types of dangerous condition.Third, modal analysis theory base was studied in detail, which was used to analyze Knuckle, The vibration characteristics of the Knuckle was calculated, the inherent vibration mode and frequency of the first ten bands of the Steyr Knuckle were obtained in the solid support state, and analyzed the model characteristics of Knuckle.Fourth, according to the model characteristics of Knuckle rough pieces, a manufacturing program of the Rough was developed, and according to the structure and performance characteristics of Knuckle rough pieces, machining processes was studied, and the processes was obtained. Then, based on pro/E software, the automatic programming and simulation of the machining process of Knuckle parts was studied.Finally, a test of the Knuckle product quality was conducted, the quality of testing protocols was studied, which was used to test the main dimensions of Knuckle parts. The causes of error in the size that detected was studied.
