With an open vertical display cabinet as subject, this paper studies it's structure and theory, meanwhile gives a detail analysis of internal and exterior factor effecting the dislplay case's performance.In this paper, a detailed analysis is given to the cooling load components of an open vertical display cabinet. During the non-stable running stage of the display cabinet, the defrost load is the main factor which causes temperature fluctuating in the display cabinet. Meanwhile, in the process of the stable running stage, the infiltration load through the aircurtain accounts for most of the total cooling load. Therefore, in order to improve the performance of the display cabinet, these two kinds of cooling load must be reduced.In the aspect of CFD simulation, according to the elementary equations of hydrodynamics and heat transfer, a two-dimensional mathematical model of air curtain and air flow in the open vertical display cabinet has been built based on several hypothesises. By using this model, a numerical simulation has been performed with k ?εturbulence model and FLUENT. Several important factors have been taken into account. The computational results show that the inlet temperature, outlet temperature and turbulence of aircurtain all have their optimal values and have a crucial influence on the performance of the air curtain. In the aspact of experiment, this paper investigates the temperature of display cabinate, the temperature and velocity of aircurtian in three dimensions according to the standard of the AS1731 and EN441. Comparing the numerical and experimental results, demonstrate the validity of numerical calculation and mathematical model. Additionally, the temperature distribution inside display cabinet has been measured to indicate the connection between location and temperature; then temperature and humidity has been changed in the experiment, indicate the environment's effect on the performance of display cabinet.According to the model of CFD simulation, optimizes has been take to improve the performance of the aircurtain of the open vertical display cabinet. The computational results show that the velocity of aircurtain and the structure of exit leading board are two important factors to influent the performance of aircurtain. Either fixs the value of velocity of aircurtain to 1.1m/s or improve the structure of exit leading board can enhance the performance of the aircurtain of display cabinet.
