At the same time of rapid development of China's expressway construction, the highway asphalt pavement early damage and inadequate durability are also existing, which has become the key problem affects the healthy development of China's highways. The variability construction quality is one of the key factors causes the early damage of pavement.On the basis of plenty of tests and test data, the author has carried out the study for the main technology parameters which have variability and affect asphalt pavement construction quality, and has analysed the level of its variability, variability distribution and its influence on the performance of pavement. And also the author has proposed the measures reducing construction variations, determined the reasonable technical criteria to evaluate asphalt pavement segregation, and established asphalt pavement construction quality management system suitable for the actual situation of the Yunnan Province. The research of this paper divides into five parts:(1) The author has carried out the quality control analysis of raw material including studies of variation law of modified asphalt penetration, softening point, ductility and the properties of aggregate such as aggregate gradation, clay content, flat or elongated particles content and the impact on asphalt mixture properties and asphalt pavement performance. And also the author has put forward the measures to reduce construction variations.(2) For asphalt mixture, it is relate to three aspects research that mixture gradation, asphalt content, mixture temperature. The variability of mixture gradation, asphalt content and mixture temperature has been analyzed, and the measures of reducing variance have been put forward;(3) The variability level and influenced factors of compactness and smoothness of asphalt pavement surface feature have been analyzed. The author also has put forward the way to select reasonable rolling technology, and the measures to raise compactness and smoothness have also been studied.(4) The author has carried out the analysis of the method to judge the uniformity of asphalt pavement, established the segregation evaluation criteria of the Xinhe expressway asphalt pavement;(5) In asphalt pavement construction management and quality control related research, the author proposes to use control chart and quality diagnosis theory to control the quality of the construction process, and recommends the cost pay factor based on construction quality to control the construction quality.The conclusions of this paper are important to improve pavement quality and to prevent the early damage of Xinhe expressway asphalt pavement.
