In recent several years, the road project completed time is often ahead, which leads to the lack of effective control measures and construction process out of control. At the same time, construction units driven by the economic interests use insufficient mechanical equipments, and some units even make use of the negative indicators for quality control during road construction.Practice has proved that quality control during road construction can effectively increase the overall capacity of the road structure and improve the stability, can avoid the early damage formation and extend the life of the road. Therefore, there is an urgent need to study the functions and impact of process control in road construction. This can avoid quality variability during pavement construction and reduce the pavement isolation. So the road pavement will be more even and the distribution of traffic load in its structure will be more reasonable. The pavement performance of domestic semi-rigid base will be improved.On the basis of plenty of tests and test data, the author carry out research analysis for the main technology parameters which has variability and affecting pavement construction quality determine the level of its variability, variability distribution and its influence for the performance of pavement. At the same time, the paper have studied reasonable technology parameters' standard and variety range which can assure the construction quality of asphalt pavement. The new viewpoints have been presented about pavement quality management. Test frequency, quality assessment methods, index system have been studied on the theory basis of quality management.The research of this paper divides into four parts:(1).The quality variability analysis of raw material including: aggregate, mine powder and asphalt. The index such as aggregate gradation, flat or spindly particles content, asphalt penetration degree, ductility, softening point, mine powder gradation etc have been studied. The measures have been put forward to reduce the variability. (2).For quality variability asphalt mixture, it is related to four aspects research that mixture temperature, mixture design method, asphalt content, mixture gradation. Rational discharge temperature and paving temperature is determined. The variability of mixture gradation and asphalt content have been analyzed, and the measures of reducing variance have been put forward.(3)The variability characters and affecting factors have been analyzed during pavement is compacted. (4).On the foundation of the content of preceding research, the author has put forward asphalt pavement construction quality control index system. The modified Analytic Hierarchy Process method has been used to evaluate the value of every index in quality control system.The conclusions of the paper are important to improve pavement quality and to prevent the early damage.
