Pedestrians are the main body of the urban traffic, walking is an important part of urban traffic system, and the walking people are the most puny in the traffic with vehicles. Especially at the unsignalized crossings where there is no separation for pedestrians and vehicles, people are faced with threaten from the vehicles. Analyzing pedestrian crossing characteristics such as behavior, speed and delay is very important for the evaluation, planning and construction of the establishments for crossing, as well as improving traffic management, safety.By using the camera, the author obtained the information of pedestrians and vehicles at the typical unsignalized crossings, and analyzed the data through SPSS.In the dissertation, the author researched the crossing behavior of pedestrians firstly. In this part, the author analyzed the common characteristics of crossing behavior and compared crossing characteristics in groups such as ages, gender, numbers and then verified the safe/unsafe crossing behavior. Secondly, pedestrian crossing flow characteristics were analyzed. This part of dissertation included the statistical characteristics of crossing speed, number of pedestrians arrived and its arrival pattern. In the end, pedestrian crossing delay characteristics were studied. Statistical characteristics of delay and behavior of security gap acceptance were analyzed. According to the Weibull distributions of headway, the author put forward the average delay under different cross ways.The research discovered: Under the non-signal control condition, the pedestrian street speed has had certain difference between the different crowd, creates this kind of difference the primary cause is pedestrian's physiology and the psychology is different. To has/the non-signal control pedestrian street speed contrast to indicate that under the signal control the street speed has been relatively small between crowd's distributed difference .The research had further proven the Poisson distribution is suitable in the description under the low current capacity condition pedestrian arrives at the rule, and expands its applicable scope to the current capacity does not surpass 1600 p/h.The different traffic flow magnitude situation downward person street delay's statistical property analysis discovery, the traffic flow magnitude size has had obviously to the pedestrian street delay is being related the influence.
