Extracting the induction motor incipient fault with high sensitivity and reliability, is an essential research issue. The adaptive filter approach, the Park transform approach,the Hilbert transform approach and the instantaneous power approach are usually utilized to detect the rotor bar breaking fault on-1ine. This paper reviews the four approaches, points out their advantages and deficiencies. Based on that, a comprehensive on-line approach to detect rotor bar breaking fault is presented. Experimental results demonstrate that the comprehensive approach is valid and effective. As for bearing incipient fault, high frequency resonance and demodulation method of bearing fault is presented, which realizes the effective detection of the bearing fault; Induction Motor Bearing Fault Diagnosis based on Motor Current Signature Analysis (MCSA) is a new subject in bearing fault diagnosis, a method to detect bearing fault in induction motors based on EMD (empirical mode decomposition) is presented. Experimental results demonstrate that the above-mentioned detection methods are valid and feasible.
