With development of our country, more and more high level apartments appeared. The people attached importance to plan and space of apartment. In recent year, because of lighter weight and good thermal insulation, concrete short pier shear wall was a better structure than concrete shear wall.In earthquake intensity upper region, the key of research on short pier shear wall is to research its earthquake-resistant behavior. In this thesis, Systemic seismic behavior static experimental research on "—"-shaped section short pier shear wall models is presented. With three wall width-depth ratios(5,5.5and 6), the specimen have been designed with concealed steel columns, built with the 1/2 scale. All the specimen have the same parameters except the wall length.Main conclusions have been drawn from the experiments as below: With the setting of the concealed steel columns in the short pier shear wall, the values of cracking force, yielding force and utmost force have been improved; Ductility coefficient of the shear wall with concealed steel column has been improved obviously, Compared with that of the common wall; cracking stiffness, stiffness of obvious yield and the late stiffness have been improved greatly with the setting of the concealed walls.Especially, the late stiffness has good stability, which is good to earthquake resistance. The hysteresitic curve of shear wall with concealed steel column is plumper than that of common walls. Concealed steel column have changed the distribution and the direction of the cracks.Theoretical analysis based on the experimental research has been done. The simplified mechanics model and the calculative formulas of the stiffness and the bearing capacity have been established. The finite element inelastic analysis models and method have been presented.
