The locomotive running state is directly related to the safety of railway operations. The quality of locomotive can be guaranteed by the monitoring of the locomotive operation and maintenance of locomotives. In China, periodic repair is usually adopted in the maintenance system. This system would not only generate high maintenance cost, but also tend to make locomotive running with faults, which goes against the security requirements of railway operations. Therefore, research work for real-time monitoring, data processing and fault diagnosis becomes meaningful.A remote monitoring system of electric locomotive state based on GPRS is designed in the thesis, and Shaoshan 4B electric locomotive is used as an example.The overall structure and implementation method for the monitoring system are described in the thesis. The design of the onboard system hardware is discussed, including the designs of main system, external data acquisition system and the way to store and dump data. Then the communication between onboard system and ground system based on GPRS wireless network is described.Secondly, a fault diagnosis expert system for electric locomotive is described and realized in the thesis. The expert system is based on rules, positive consequence and breadth-first search. Through analyzing the electrical system of SS4B locomotive, fault trees have been constructed in order to analyze and search fault. And a method is brought up, which can solve the fault diagnosis problem of many fault sources and complex logic to generate rough set-based logical rules.At last, the reliability design is described in the thesis.The hardware anti-jamming measure and software filtering methods are adopted in the system.The thesis completed the design of system hardware and software. Also the test of remote monitoring and equipment analysis system has been done. The desired function has been achieved.
