Nowadays, with the rapid development of the railway, the updating and perfecting of the train control system guarantees that the train can run with a higher speed and safely. The 2nd level of CTCS (Chinese train control system) has been used on CRH, a higher level-the 3rd level of CTCS that controls the train running at 300km/h or a higher speed is being researched. As the railway system requires high safety all the time, CTCS3 equipment as the high-speed train control system should be more stable and safe. The research of the system testing just begin in our country, while the testing work of the 2nd level of European Train Control System began several years ago, and some test cases of the cab equipment have be published. But there are some differences between ETCS2 and CTCS3, so we have to research core technologies of CTCS3 ourselves.According to the foreign published material, this paper investigates the testing method of the function and safety of On-board system. There are four parts in this paper.First, the cab signal function requirements are analyzed; including the architecture and the function of the On-board equipment, kinds of operating modes and operating processions. And in this part a method of creating test cases according to the operating processions of the train is brought. Second, the train operating processions are divided into actions and status with modeling them, and function features and test cases are created according to these actions and status. At last a data structure of the test cases has to be designed for easy stored and read. Third, this part is the most important one in the paper. In this part an algorithm is designed to create a better mode-sequence which can cover all the mode transforms and has a higher efficiency. This algorithm uses graph theory and mathematical programming to solve the problem. Then how to arrange test cases into test sequence is researched, and some examples about this are given. Last, test sequence producer, sequence manager and module event recorder are created to build the test platform.
