Switchgear is a kind of electric power distribution equipment which is very important in underground mines power supply system. This paper describes the design of PLC-based Intelligent Mine flameproof switchgear.In addition to the basic functions of the power network on-off control, the main function of switchgear is to detect electrical faults including break phase, short circuit, overload, leakage, or lack of voltage fault in the power system and protect the power system when these fault occurred. In light of the actual situation of China's coal mine grid and the current existing power grid fault detection method, this paper introduced the principle of detection methods in detail and the method of how these realized. The advantages of the selection of PLC as the control core and the structure of the PLC software are introduced. In the fifth chapter, the details of the development of man-machine interface are described. A summary and outlook of the whole work is done finally.
