With the rapid development of high class highway in China, the western region particularly, there are so many problem should be solved. Because of geography restriction in mountain area with highway alignment system roughly, the roadbed that be deep dug and high filled can't be avoid, their stability problem becomes the key of the normal and unimpeded usage in mountain area highway.The main problem of the fill section's stability is the over large settlement or non-uniform settlement. Because of the non-uniform settlement, it will make for the pavement structure destroyed so early, it will increase the expenditure on the maintain and repairs, and it will effect the normal usage of the transportation. So it gets large loss on the national economic construction, at the same time, it will lead to bad social effect. So the research of treating with non-uniform settlement has not only the large economic, technologic value, but also the good social value.This paper base on much spot investigation and analysis to the data that have be collected, it sum up four different non-uniform settlement, research the settlement principle, and put forward the qualitative and quantitative evaluation and calculating methods.According to the discuss to exiting settlement analysis methods, this paper put forward a new calculating methods which calculate the subgrade settlement with Duncan-Chang nonlinear elastic model. The calculating result is accordant with the survey data, it will develop the consolidation law of non-saturation soil at the mountain area as the large load.
