The combination of the CAD technology, the modern design technology and the simulation technology are the trend of modern CAD software. As one of the important supporting technologies, assembly process simulation (APS) enables the designer to have a clear understanding of the product structure, assembly and operating characteristics at the preliminary design phase and to improve the design controllability so that the design is optimized and product lead time shortened.As assembly modeling is the basis of the assembly process simulation system, the characteristics of assembly models directly affect the efficiency of following system design works. Therefore, creating the assembly models with high integration level and sophisticated is of great significance. Based on the ACIS geometry modeling platform and taking product feature model as the core, the thesis presents a parametric feature modeling method oriented to the dynamical simulation system of assembling process. In the product design stage the thesis realizes product pre-assembly to verify and improve the assembly process via assembly process simulation and vividly display the product's assembly performance. Finally, the various performance verifications for virtually assembled products are provided and the products comprehensive evaluation report and action recommendations presented.During the course for developing assembly process simulation system, the most important activity is assembly practicability analysis. The reliability verification of assembly components movement paths are judged mainly on whether the interference would occur. In terms of studying interference criteria, methods and related algorithms, the thesis presents a recursive interference inspection algorithm based on hierarchically rectangular box decomposition and implements interference inspection in machine assembly process simulation.On this basis of works above, the thesis executes the application of the modeling methods and interference inspection algorithm used in developing assembly process simulation system mainly in object-oriented Visual C++ 6.0 programming language.
