Distillation column plays a very important role in the oxygen manufacture equipment .It is a diathermanous equipment that used widely during the process of oxygen manufacture. The stand or fall of the distillation equipment's operation is deeply related to the economic benefit of oxygen manufacture factory. Of late years, Along with the development of computer,artificial intelligence and nerve net ,it become one of the problem that the corporations concern, that is how to combine the computer with the theory of distillation and apply it to fault diagnosis of distillation column.This paper does a research to distillation column in the oxygen manufacture factory., Bring forward and accomplish the fault diagnosis expert system of distillation column. Fault diagnosis expert system of distillation column can find out the fault origin and tell the measure that how to get rid of it. At the same time , fault diagnosis expert system of distillation column can judge the multifarious unconventionality state exactly in time to prevent them expand, make necessary instruction and correction to improve the reliability of distillation column.The paper describes in detail the concept and characteristic of fault diagnosis and expert system, and points out the necessity of the fault diagnosis of distillation column .
