In this thesis, the computer protection and monitoring network system is discussed according to the requirement of Shaoguan smeltery for distribution. Advanced technologies are employed in the system to monitor and control as well as protect the main equipments in the factory automatically such as computer, modern electronics, communication and signal processing. The automatization and management of the substation are improved, and the production efficiency and economic benefit are advanced after these technologies have been used.The study is focused on the application realization of the Computer Protection and monitoring network system in Shaoguan smeltery for distribution and the key technologies are discussed deeply. Firstly, the current development of automation system in 110kV substation is investigated and analyzed. With the requirements of the 110kV substation in Shaoguan smeltery, layered structure monitoring network system based on windows platform is constituted according to the selection of suitable hardware, the design of software and network. Secondly, in order to ensure efficient accurate real-time data,the multibus and multithreading sampling system is devised in details. In secession, the real time database based on object oriented programming(OOP) is proposed and designed to satisfy the real-time performance, accuracy and reliability of the monitoring system.The core of this database is real-time memory resident database, its background is real-time transactions mechanism and the basic technique is real-time data compression. Finally, human-machine interface of the system and protraction software are developed independently. Integrating the real-time internal response mechanism and the image processing technology, the separation of its graphics, properties and data are achieved. By all these above work, the Shaoguan smeltery for distribution system has been built up in safe, steady, economic ways.Nowadays, the system has been applied in the factory. The running state indicates that the system not only has high control precision, high response speed and reliability in data transmitting, but also is easy to operate, extend and maintain. The system satisfies with the requirements of substation commendably.
