This paper makes detection technology on conticaster mold vibration as study background. After fully research on detection and fault diagnosis systems of mold in domestic and abroad, and shortages of present detection methods, against demand of hand-held mold vibration detection system, a set of specific system is developed. It chooses acceleration vibration sensor as front-end, embedded processors MSP430 and ARM7 dual-CPU architecture as hardware platform, embedded operating system uC/OS-II as high-level task scheduling method. This system can realize mold vibration parameter detection, vibration mode detection, and help field engineer get reference of billet steal production.The system makes reasonable task division for the whole field inspection, including upper-level position computer, lower-level position computer and sensor. Upper-level position computer consists S3C44B0X (ARM7) main module with uC/OS-II ported, SDRAM, Flash storage module, LCD display module, USB communication module, and it takes responsibility in real-time data procession, signal real-time display and history data uploading; Lower-level position computer consists of power management module, data acquisition module, filter module, operation amplifier adjusting circuit module, MSP430F149 MCU (Micro Controller Unit) module, serial communication module, and it takes responsibility in data acquisition, pre-processing and real-time data uploading; piezoelectric acceleration sensor with IC is chosen, it has these advantages: high sensitivity, easy installation, high reliability, and easy realization of patrol inspection.This paper simply introduces conceptions related to embedded system, how to choose corresponding software and hardware platform; also developing and debugging environment of hardware platform.This paper focuses on expounding hardware platform design and system debugging, design of communication between upper-level and lower-level computer, upper-level position computer booting and design of USB communication between PC and embedded system.Finally, this paper makes conclusion and looks forward to the future of whole research. The hand-held mold detection system can substitute for square caliper and stopwatch for calibrating vibration characteristics of mold; field engineer can precisely obtain the vibration characteristics of mold to form production reference, discover vibration exception in time, and then implement corresponding measure.
