With the rapid development of national economy and enhancement of people's lives, people will more further rely on the electric power supply, which set a higher request to the power supply reliability and quality. The power accident will influence the society more and more. Therefore, the safe and stable movement of the power system is especially important. Whether the relay protection can action accurately, promptly and reliably is one of the key aspects of stable movement of the whole electric power system. The microprocessor protection product is widely used for its outstanding advantage, which has become the important pillar of the power system in China.This text introduce the development of the relay protection first. Not only the modern microprocessor protection system put forward a higher request to the protective accuracy, but also the protective speed, so we introduce the double DSP chip to the relay protection system. We adopt the TMS320LF2407 chip on the design of the hardware electrical circuit, which makes a great superiority in the hardware resource and the development terrace etc. We replace the traditional cent to sign a logic spare part with complex programmable logic device (CPLD). Thus we improve the anti-interference and credibility of system and raise the function of protection device. We study some typical microprocessor protection principle and calculation, select fast fourier transformation (FFT) to carry out protection. We use assemble language to write procedure, adopt a mold piece to design the function in order to improve the development efficiency and easy to maintenance. The plan is effective and feasibility which is proved by experiment.
