Waveform generator is one of the electron apparatuses often used in project test and experimentation. In the special test situation, test requirement sometimes can hardly be fulfilled by the universal waveform generator, so the waveform generator with especial test function is used. This paper aims at the design of the waveform generator with multi-channel delay waveform output which is needed to detect some SONAR and Torpedo in the ordinary LAB. The shortcoming of the traditional SONAR simulator is firstly analyzed and the design method based on FPGA is proposed. The design includes hardware design and software design. The hardware design mainly includes interface electrocircuit formed by the PCI interface chip, FPGA module and regulation electrocircuit of the analog signals; The soft design mainly contains interior logic compile in VHDL and testing software of application layer. The program of FPGA interior logic function is mainly accomplished and the waveform is simulated in this paper. The output waveform is simulated in Matlab in order to observe intuitively, the result accords with the design guide line. And the electrocircuit design of amplitude control, digital to analog conversion and low pass filter are finished.The designed muti-channel programble delay waveform generator can generate sine wave, pseudorandom sequence, triangle wave, phase modulation wave, the frequence and the amplitude of the waveform can be controlled. Each channel is independent and the delay time of output waveforms can be optionally set according to the factual demand.
