Earth rockfill dam is widely used in most of reservoirs in China. The reason is that abundant experience in the choice of earth rockfill dam's material, dam body zoning, stabilization of dam body, anti-seepage measures, settlement, analysis of stress and strain, and machine of construction are accumulated. But after operation in many years, many problems exist in body and foundation of many earth rockfill dams, normal use and benefit are influenced. In this paper, according to the situation of Che Ao Gang reservoir, on the base of deep analysis and study, the numerical value analysis theory and technology of reinforcement are used, and the efficiency strengthening measures are put forward. The paper includes the following contents.(1) The development and actuality of earth rockfill dam in China are reviewed. The variety and evaluation method of rockfill dam's disease are inducted.(2) The technology and method of reinforcement are summarized. Different kinds of anti-seepage and strengthening measures are analyzed and compared.(3) The specific situation of Che Ao Gang reservoir is introduced. The danger and strengthening measures in the operation of the reservoir are summarized, and the main problems existed in the reservoir and the dam body are concluded.(4) The characteristics such as stability, seepage and deformations are analyzed and researched, and the final anti-seepage and strengthening scheme of the dam body is determined.(5) The stability, anti-seepage effect, stress and strain of the dam body after reinforcement are analyzed so as to improve the feasibility and effectiveness of selected strengthening scheme.
