last two years, the government promulgated the "National 8" and "the six" control policy.The important part of the policy is the development of small and medium apartment following 90 square meters which must be of the total area of more than 70 percent.So how to design such a large proportion apartment is a problem.This article holds that small and medium-sized residential graphic design should focus on its adaptability.The article analysis of the factors which impact the small and medium-sized apartment and introduct the concept of adaptive design.It summed up the "people-oriented, flexible, variable" adaptive design.The dominant ideology continuous improvement and start behind the in-depth study."People-oriented", this is the connotation of adaptability of small and medium-sized residential, which includes two aspects: First of all, small and medium-sized apartment must meet the requirements of its users as much as possible. In addition, it demand for creating personalized mix of flat space for different users."Flexible and variable," this is an important supplement of adaptability of small and medium-sized residential. The small and medium-sized apartment can changes by changes in demand arising from strain under the tenants of the structure of the family and its life style. Variability is a technology to achieve a personalized design.It makes the apartment a certain degree of flexibility ,so that the household can adjust the apartment for needs.This also reflects of the design concept of "People-oriented"Finally, we research the small and medium-sized residential market of Hangzhou.We find the problem in the current small and medium-sized residential apartment and solute it with the knowledge which we summed up in the acticle.
