An important component of city housing production and consumption is not only thenational economy, dynamic is a microcosm of social development pattern. The inevitabilityand necessity of our country population density and resources determines the developmentof compact living pattern. Based on the "sustainable development" and "people-oriented"two clues, has conducted the system research and explore the necessity and practicalmethod of compact living pattern in china.This paper first introduces the positive results of compact living pattern made ofdeveloped countries in Europe, the compact living pattern of deep connotation, andcombined with the contradictions of China’s existing human, points out that the compactliving pattern is the inevitable development of city of our country. Combined with theadvanced experience of Japan and Hongkong, analyzing the patterns and trends of compactliving pattern, in order to take the way and reasonable in practice.Then, the author of thecompact living pattern in the way to realize our country put forward their own point of view.At the planning level residential area increased building density, pointed out that themethod to three-dimensional space, increase the space utilization efficiency; at the sametime that the residential district as the city residential space is an important part of cityfunctions, and other functions with compact space composite, hybrid symbiotic, city livingforce excitation.Finally, the author in the face of the common problems existing in theexisting small and medium-sized apartment layout of residential design in the apartmentlayout layer are summarized and the compact living pattern residential comfort designprinciples. Each functional space for residential "enough","comfortable" Bay and depthmeasurements were studied in detail, and combined with the furniture layout, explore theefficient use of methods and means of residential space.
