The inter-turn short circuit of rotor winding is one of the common faults. When it happens, it will lead to rotor vibration, and even cause rotor earthen, rotor winding burned-out, generator loss of excitation, generator components magnetization and so on, that will endanger the safe of generator and system. So it is important to analyze the mechanism and diagnosis method of inter-turn short circuit fault of rotor winding. Aims at the practical situation of Electric Power Plant, we have developed the Rotor Inter-turn Short-Circuit Diagnosis System. First, use Ovation opc sever digit communication port to collect the exciting current, active power, inactive power, phase voltage, line current, power factor and frequency etc parameters of the generator. Then transfer them to the database of the server. Based on the set up model of the generator and the collected data, we compile the diagnosis software of rotor inter-turn short-circuit. The entire client computers in the local area network can observe the operating condition of current time of the generator by accessing the server. About half year's operating at field indicates that, this system's performance is stable, and it can be used conveniently.
