As the development of the national economy and the tourism in China, the demand for the light aircrafts is increaseing . Now the light aircraft is mainly used the piston aeroengine as the power source. Vehicle engine has developed more than one hundred years, the cooling technology is mature and perfect, but the piston aeroengine is different from vehicle engine, the operation condition is worse. Because the surrounding of the aircraft operation is too bad ,it make the qualification of the cooling system higher and higher. Cooling System directly impacts on the reliability of power system, efficiency and the lives of parts. Therefore, the design and matching of piston aeroengine cooling system is the focus and difficulty of engine research.In this paper, the design method of the engine cooling system which is convenient and efficient was established based on summing-up the experiences of the design in the past. The method researched in this paper is mainly composed of engine cooling system management software and the GT-COOL simulation software.This similation computing method includes the design paremeters calculation , the research and set of the cooling system working principle schemeters, simulation, performance prediction , engineering components selection and the data management.In this paper , the cooling system of the piston aeroengine was the research target by the establishment of the cooling system design programme. It mainly researched the take-off condition and the 4800 meters flying condition, used the cooling system design and management software as the computing tool, used the GT-COOL software as the simulation experiment means. The final design was composed of reasonable aeroengine cooling system schematics, the type designs of the components,the cooling system performances as the variational conditions and the feasible strategy for regulating the cooling system , make the cooling system match to the aeroengine work.
